The Mower Tract, encompassing approximately 40,000 acres within West Virginia’s Monongahela National Forest, is a region rich in ecological and recreational assets. Historically home to one of the largest red spruce communities south of Maine, the area has been the focus of extensive restoration efforts to reestablish these native forests. These initiatives aim to enhance biodiversity, improve water quality in the Shavers Fork watershed, and create wildlife corridors for vulnerable species. Additionally, the Mower Tract offers diverse recreational opportunities, including mountain biking on trails like the Hawks Ridge Loop, which provides panoramic views of the surrounding landscape.
